LPM Attorney to Participate in Diversity Leadership Program

Article Date: Friday, November 04, 2011

Attorney Afi Johnson-Parris has been invited by the American Bar Association Law Practice Management Section (ABA LPM) to participate in their Diversity Leadership Program. This appointment is a real honor as only two attorneys are selected nationally for this annual comprehensive training program.
The purpose of the ABA LPM program is to increase the participation of a diverse group of attorneys within the membership of the section. They accomplish this by involving attorneys of color, women and those with disabilities and with differing sexual orientations, and train them as future leaders of the Section and to spread the news about the work of the Section. After the completion of the appointee's one year term, the members of the program should continue to advance in the leadership of the Section and encourage other lawyers to apply for the program and to become active in one or more of the Section's various committees or boards.

Johnson-Parris has been assigned a mentor during the course of the program, who will advise and direct her in her work with the Section and provide guidance so that she will be able to maximize her experience over the course of the year. The appointee will be given the opportunity to join at least two LPM Committees or Boards and will be guided through various professional development exercises by the mentor.
